Headline: Enabling Good Lives Demonstration in Christchurch
A paper called “Enabling Good Lives Demonstration in Christchurch” was considered by Cabinet on 15 July 2013. The demonstration is of a new way of supporting disabled people that offers them greater choice and control over the support they receive and the lives they lead.
The demonstration would involve the Ministries of Health, Education and Social Development. It gives disabled people a strong role in governance and builds on the Ministry of Health’s New Model for Supporting Disabled People.
Cabinet supported a three-year demonstration of Enabling Good Lives in Christchurch. The Cabinet paper can be found on the Office for Disability Issues website. A link to announcement of the national Enabling Good Lives Leadership Group can also be found on the Office for Disability Issues website. The announcement of the demonstration by Hon Tariana Turia, Minister for Disability Issues and Associate Minister of Health, can be found on the Beehive website.
