The Wellington branch of The NZ Chefs Association held its 4th annual Curry Cup Competition recently. There was a delicious array of fine curries on offer and no doubt the judging was arduous. Going up against these seasoned chefs in a cooking competition is always a challenging task and this year proved no exception. While the Heart Foundations representative and resident chef Asher Regan’s contribution of Butter(less) chicken didn’t make it onto the podium, some consolation can be taken that the plate was emptied soon after the judging finished and the rest of us commenced consuming the entries.
This year the winning curry was a Goan fish curry prepared by Anita Sarginson. The blue warehou was perfectly cooked and the sauce finely balanced and exceptional. This is the second time Anita has won the Curry Cup. In second and third place respectively were Glenn Curphey and Chetan Pangam with two excellent entries.
With renewed determination and a new curry recipe we’ll be back next year to compete and regardless of the result an amazing meal will be had.
