UK Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has said he is prepared to impose seven-day working on hospital doctors in England, reports the BBC. He says a “Monday to Friday culture” in parts of the NHS had tragic consequences, and he said 6000 people died each year because of this. Meanwhile, British Medical Association leader Dr Mark Porter said the union supported more seven-day working, but he accused Mr Hunt of being “too simplistic”. The full article can be read here.
