Headline: Increasing Rates of Deceased Organ Donation: Consultation document

Published online:
07 June 2016

The Ministry of Health is developing a strategy to increase deceased organ donation and transplantation.

This consultation document (docx, 222 KB) seeks feedback on the Ministry’s initial proposals to increase deceased organ donation and transplantation in New Zealand. Proposals are based on the findings of the initial phase of the Ministry of Health’s review of options.

We are seeking feedback on the overall package. This consultation is intended to ensure that everyone can have their say on organ donation.

In addition to consultation on this document, the Ministry will be engaging directly with interested stakeholders for more detailed and technical discussion of some of the proposals in this document.

To find out more information about the initial phase of the review, read the full report Review of deceased organ donation and transplantation rates – initial report to the Minister of Health (docx, 376 KB).

How to have your say

Your feedback is important because it will help shape the final proposals, ensuring they are workable and that a sustained increase in deceased organ donation and transplantation is achieved. We appreciate you taking the time to comment.

The Ministry welcomes all feedback. This consultation document is aimed at a range of audiences. The primary questions ask for general feedback about each proposal, and we have suggested more detailed or technical issues you may also wish to comment on. Please do not feel obliged to answer every question.

Submissions can be made either by email or post, using the submssion form provided (docx, 69 KB).

If you wish to submit by email, please send your comments to: organdonation@moh.govt.nz.
