Headline: Health board elections draw nearer
Seven Waikato DHB board members will be chosen by public election this year. Voting opens on Monday 19 September and closes at noon Saturday 8 October.
The list of nominated candidates has been announced, and their profiles are now available for voters to consider.
District health boards have a big role to play in the health and wellbeing of their communities, and voting for the board members is an important part of our democratic process.
The three-yearly local body and district health board elections across New Zealand use a postal vote system, with packs sent to all enrolled voters. Enrolment officially closed on 12 August, and late enrolment needs to be done through contacting your local council.
The DHB election uses the Single Transferable Voting (STV) system where voters rank candidates in the order they prefer, with 1 for the candidate you most prefer, 2 for your next preference and so on.
You can vote for as many (or as few) candidates as you want from the list on the voting paper.
