Headline: 2013 Hauora Maori Scholarships Special Awards Ceremony
The Hauora Māori Scholarship (HMS) Programme is a national initiative that aims to strengthen the Māori health workforce, and contribute to improved health outcomes for Māori. The Programme provides financial assistance for students undertaking a tertiary health-related programme of study who are committed to Māori health and have whakapapa and/or cultural links with Māori.
Every year, a select group of scholarship applicants are awarded a John McLeod Scholarship or Te Apa Māreikura Award. In 2013, from 653 successful Hauora Maori scholars, five students were selected. They will be presented with the awards at a special ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Health and the Associate Minister of Health, Hon Tariana Turia.
The ceremony will be held on Wednesday 27 November 2013 at Te Marae, Te Papa Museum, Wellington from 6.00 pm until 9.00 pm.
