Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) is managing an outbreak of mumps.
“We are concerned that this disease has the potential to spread quickly among those who are unimmunised, particularly in schools,” says Medical Officer of Health, Dr Michael Hale from ARPHS.
“The only way to avoid getting an infectious disease like mumps is to ensure you are fully immunised with the measles, mumps, rubella vaccine (MMR vaccine). If you are not sure about your vaccination status, please check with your doctor,” says Dr Hale.
