PHARMAC is the government agency responsible for ensuring New Zealanders have access to a wide range of affordable medicines.  As an international leader in pharmaceutical management PHARMAC makes a vital contribution to New Zealand’s health outcomes. Due to their previous track record in this area the Government has asked PHARMAC to begin work towards managing all hospital medical device procurement on behalf of DHBs. How do you get the best health outcomes from the national budget for Hospital Medical Devices?

The role of Manager, Devices Funding will build then lead the team responsible for delivering on this challenge. This is an exciting opportunity to build an amazing team post establishment. Your team will work effectively with a wide variety of professionals in the health sector to provide clinical, economic and commercial analysis leading to the development of funding decisions and contract negotiations. It’s all about making real improvements to the lives of New Zealanders and helping ensure health sector resources are used as effectively as possible.

Your experience leading high level negotiations as well as managing complex relationships will ensure your success within PHARMAC. You will be comfortable reporting to Board and Executive level and will work with ease with topic specialists. You may be currently working within the Medical Devices industry or alternatively will have a background in a senior level commercial management or procurement function. An understanding of the Health Sector is advantageous however not essential.

You will provide sound leadership in a supportive environment and will possess commercial acumen as well as intellectual grunt. This is a real opportunity to be at the core of PHARMAC’s operations, influencing the practical intersect of evidence-based decision making, economics and commercial activities.
