We have an exciting opportunity for an analyst keen to work with large and complex data sets, on a range of interesting analytical projects. You will be involved with reporting on key metrics that help drive the organisation towards achieving its objectives. Ideally you would bring some experience as an analyst but strong graduates may be considered.
PHARMAC works with panels of medical experts to decide what products will make the biggest difference to people’s health, from within the available budget.
For twenty years we have made decisions about the medicines you collect from your pharmacy. Now PHARMAC’s work is expanding to include the medicines and devices that are used in hospitals. Its an exciting time to join PHARMAC as we take on this new work, and develop new approaches.
That’s where you come in.
Data analysts at PHARMAC play a critical role within our organisation. Your analysis will influence decision making across a range of areas – ensuring the budget for pharmaceuticals is accurately forecast; evaluating proposed supply contracts; analysing data to improve access to and/or optimal use of medicines, vaccines and medical devices; and working with data from our large database of pharmaceuticals usage. You’ll work with a range of internal stakeholders, including our health economists.
The analysis teams purpose is to turn data into actions by combining skills from business analysis, statistical programming and statistical / economic analysis. If this sounds like you then we want to hear from you.
You will be responsive to customer needs, and the ability to make data relevant to a wider audience will be a core aspect of this role. To succeed, you will bring:
- an enquiring mind and comfort working both independently and in a team
- a suitable tertiary qualification with a strong focus on quantitative analysis
- excellent numeric and analytical ability
- effective communication skills – both oral and written
- advanced level of competence with MS Excel, experience working with statistical software such as SAS and SQL would be an advantage.
